At Women's Specialists of Clear Lake, our board-certified gynecologists perform advanced surgeries to treat a number of women’s health issues. For many conditions, laser surgery, minimally invasive surgery, and the da Vinci® Minimally Invasive Surgery are excellent alternatives to traditional, invasive procedures. Many can be done in the comfort of our office or as a brief outpatient surgery, resulting in less pain, decreased surgical risk and shorter recovery times. Our doctors will diagnose your condition and advise if you are a candidate for minimally invasive surgery.

We perform the following gynecology surgeries:

da Vinci® Minimally Invasive Surgery

Our talented surgeons possess expertise in performing robot-assisted surgery with the da Vinci® Surgical System. The da Vinci® Minimally Invasive Surgery system allows our surgeons to operate with the highest precision and control. Unlike traditional open surgeries that require a large incision and lengthy recoveries, da Vinci® minimally invasive surgery is performed through tiny 5mm to 12mm puncture sites, which minimizes pain and traditional surgical risks. da Vinci® minimally invasive surgery is used to treat endometriosis and pelvic tumors, including fibroids, ovarian tumors, ovarian cysts, pelvic adhesions and gynecological cancers. Minimally Invasive Pelviscopic Surgery

Our board-certified OB/GYNs are proud to offer minimally invasive pelviscopic surgery to women in the Bay Area of Texas. Our surgeons possess the highest level of expertise to perform minimally invasive pelviscopic surgery to treat such conditions as ectopic pregnancy, pelvic adhesions, endometriosis, fallopian tube disorders, ovarian tumors and ovarian cysts. Because an abdominal incision is not necessary, pelviscopy is associated with decreased tissue trauma, less pain and shorter recovery times.

Minimally Invasive Pelviscopic Hysterectomy

Minimally invasive pelviscopic hysterectomy is an advanced alternative to traditional hysterectomy. This technique can be used to remove some or all of the pelvic organs, including diseased structures. It is performed through small puncture sites and avoids the traditional surgical incisions. As a result, only one overnight stay is necessary and post-op discomfort is minimal. Recovery is faster and you can return to work within several days – as early as one week in certain situations.

Endometrial Ablation with NovaSure®

Our board-certified OB/GYNs are experts at using NovaSure® to treat heavy periods. The short, in-office procedure gently and completely destroys the lining of the uterus. NovaSure does not involve hormones and has a quick recovery time.

Tubal Ligation

Tubal ligation is a method of permanent female sterilization. The procedure is appropriate for women who have completed their family or who do not want to give birth to children. Our board-certified OB/GYNs have advanced training in Essure®, a short in-office procedure associated with a quick recovery.

LEEP- Loop Electrosurgical Excision Procedure

LEEP is a safe, short in-office procedure that is used to remove a thin layer of suspicious cells from the cervix. After Pap smear testing and colposcopy confirm abnormal cervical cells, LEEP uses an electrically charged loop to remove tissue for further testing. In some cases, LEEP may be a treatment as well. Our board-certified OB/GYNs are specially trained to provide LEEP as a diagnostic test as well as treatment for abnormal cervical cells.

Laser Vulvoplasty

Vulvoplasty, labiaplasty, and labia reduction are all terms for laser surgery that can help relieve discomfort and improve the appearance of external genital structures. Laser vulvoplasty is used to change the shape and size of the vulva. Laser vulvoplasty can enhance, beautify and balance the appearance of your external genital structures. The laser technology allows our doctors to carefully sculpt the vulva without leaving scars.

Vaginoplasty

While childbirth is rewarding, it can stretch the vaginal muscles, making them loose and weak. Despite Kegel exercises, the vaginal muscles may have low tone. For some women, loose vaginal muscles diminish their or their partners’ sexual pleasure. Vaginoplasty is an outpatient surgery that tightens the vaginal muscles and reduces the vaginal lining, resulting in increased control, contraction and friction for a better sexual experience.

Pelvic Prolapse Surgery

Our board-certified OB/GYNs have advanced expertise to perform pelvic prolapse surgery. Pelvic prolapse is a condition that results when the tissues that hold the pelvic organs in place stretch and weaken, causing the pelvic organs to move out of their natural positions. Bothersome symptoms can include pain, bowel, bladder problems and discomfort during sexual intercourse. Pelvic prolapse surgery requires special expertise to reconstruct tissue to obtain normal function. Experience is required in assessing the vaginal end approach to pelvic prolapse surgery. Our highly trained surgeons offer different options, including reconstructive mesh, in order to tailor the procedure for each specific patient.

Urinary Incontinence Surgery

When conservative medical treatments fail to work, surgery may be necessary. There are a number of surgical approaches that are available, all of which need to be tailored to the individual needs of the patient. Our caring OB/GYN doctors always take time to listen and explain urinary incontinence surgical options in easy-to-understand terms.

Cryosurgery

Cryosurgery is an in-office treatment for abnormal cervical cells, as indicated by an abnormal Pap smear test and colposcopy. Cryosurgery involves using very cold temperatures to freeze and destroy abnormal cells. Cryosurgery is not a treatment for cervical cancer, but rather a treatment for cervicitis or precancerous cervical cells (dysplasia).

Diagnostic Biopsies

Diagnostic biopsies are used to obtain tissue samples to examine cells for cancer. Biopsies are the only way to confidently diagnose cervical, vaginal, vulvar, or endometrial cancer. Most diagnostic biopsies can be done as simple in-office procedures.
