Menopause is a normal and natural part of a woman’s aging process. For many women, however, the symptoms can be problematic. Symptoms such as hot flashes, mood swings, insomnia, night sweats and irregular periods can interfere with your life and cause long-term changes to your body. At Women's Specialists of Clear Lake , our board-certified gynecologists are experts in menopause management and can recommend treatments to help ease your symptoms. Menopause management also includes health screenings based on individual risk factors. For help dealing with the symptoms of menopause, call our office in Webster, Texas at (832) 331-1125 or make an online appointment.
Our menopause management services include:
Hormone Replacement Options
The same decline in estrogen production that ends menstruation also causes hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings, and other problems associated with menopause. Although long-term post-menopausal use of hormone replacement therapy is no longer recommended for all women, many women gain short-term relief of bothersome menopausal symptoms with hormone replacement therapy. Ask our gynecologists if hormone replacement options are a good choice for you.
Breast Cancer (BRAC) Screening
Advancements in early detection methods and more tolerable breast cancer treatments have helped to reduce the number of breast cancer-related deaths and improve the quality of life for thousands of women. Although breast cancer treatments have come a long way over time, women still need to be vigilant and should contact their doctor if they notice changes in their breasts.
At Women's Specialists of Clear Lake, we are proud to offer BRAC analysis, a simple blood test for the two major genes that are associated with breast cancer. For patients who appear to be at risk for breast cancer, we provide compassionate follow-up counseling and support to help them make informed decisions about their breast health.
Ovarian Cancer Screening
It is important to diagnose ovarian cancer early to improve the likelihood of successful treatment. Early detection may not always be possible because symptoms of ovarian cancer may be vague and similar to the symptoms of other less serious conditions, or symptoms of ovarian cancer do not occur until the cancer is at an advanced stage. Our board-certified OB/GYN doctors offer ovarian cancer screening (CA-125 blood testing) to high-risk patients. The CA-125 detects specific proteins in the blood that appear in some women with ovarian cancer. For women at risk for or with ovarian cancer, we provide gentle support, care and education to facilitate the best recovery.
